Sensitive teeth solutions at the dentist

Do you have sensitive teeth that make having dental treatment uncomfortable?

Or maybe you dread having your teeth cleaned because the cold water sets your teeth on edge?

In this blog post I’d like to share some solutions that can help make your dental appointments more comfortable.

  1. Ask your dentist or oral health therapist to use hand scalers instead of the conventional ultrasonic cleaners for your professional cleaning appointments. While the sound can be a bit like nails on a chalkboard for some, most people with sensitive teeth are just grateful not to have cold water spraying around their teeth.
  2. Find a dental practice with an EMS Airflow. This amazing machine makes professional cleaning at the dentist quick and gentle. It also cleans and polishes at the same time. And it gets better, the water that is used can also be heated to up to 40 degrees celsius, so your teeth will not get blasted by cold water. We are proud to be able to offer this revolutionary technology for the comfort and benefit of our patients at our Claremont dental clinic.
  3. Try out some precautionary measures. Take some Paracetomol or Ibuprofen 1 hour before your appointment. If you prefer not to take medications, try out sensitive toothpaste as your normal toothpaste 2 weeks’ prior, and/or apply GC Tooth Mousse Plus to your teeth every day for 1 week.
